Etymology edit

First attested in the Dong'ui bogam (東醫寶鑑 / 동의보감), 1613, as Early Modern Korean 흘러ᄂᆞ리다 (Yale: hulle-nolita).

Equivalent to 흐르 (heureu-, to flow)+ (-eo, infinitive suffix) + 내리다 (naerida, to lower).
