Likely a Wanderwort. Cognate with Aramaic פַּרְזְלָא (parzəlā), Classical Syriac ܦܪܙܠܐ (parzlā), Akkadian 𒀭𒁇 (parzillum), Ugaritic 𐎁𐎗𐎏𐎍 (brḏl), Hebrew בַּרְזֶל (barzél) and Sumerian 𒀭𒁇𒋤 (AN.BAR.SUD).
