Etymology

According to Kloekhorst, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂or-o-, o-grade form of *h₂er- (to fit), with the laryngeal neutralized before PIE */o/. Cognate with Lycian [script needed] (ara-, rite), Sanskrit अरम् (áram, fittingly), ऋत (ṛtá, truth), Ancient Greek ἀραρίσκω (ararískō, to join).
