Bulgarian edit

Etymology edit

Formed from a blend of Latin -icus (-ical) +‎ -ен (-en, native Bulgarian adjectival suffix), appended to nouns of Latinate origin to form related adjectives. The ⟨c⟩ in Latin -icus—pronounced as /k/—is palatalized to ч (č) because of the subsequent ⟨е⟩, which effects the Slavic first palatalization.
