Etymology

From an old instrumental case form of the past participle -сан (-san)

Suffix

-саар • (-saar) (Mongolian spelling)

1. The abtemporal converb, expressing that the action of the main clause has happened or has been happening since or during the action of the subordinate clause

Usage notes

• When followed by an auxiliary verb, it expresses something similar to English perfect progressive, and with the particle л (l) before the auxiliary it can be translated as "still be _____ing"
• The verb may be repeated for effect, either with the same suffix, or with the -н (-n) converb coming first.
