-걸랑
Korean edit
Etymology edit
Short for older 거들랑 (-geodeullang), from 거든 (-geodeun) + 을랑 (-eullang).
Suffix edit
걸랑 • (-geollang) (colloquial, regional)
- if
- In the intimate style, introduces information new to the addressee.
Usage notes edit
- Although given without comment in the prescriptive dictionary of the language, it is nowadays typically perceived as a nonstandard and somewhat quaint term from the traditional "Seoul dialect" that was used by people of the capital region prior to South Korean industrialization, rather than with the contemporary standard language.
