Etymology edit
Gikun word derived by applying Chinese-derived spelling 智慧 (“wisdom”), a term which decomposes into 智 (“wise”) + 慧 (“intelligent”), to native Japanese adjective かしこし (kashikoshi, “wise”) (classical form of かしこい (kashikoi, “wise”).

1887, 旧新約全書 米国聖書会社 (1914) (1887, Complete Books of the Old and New Testament, American Bible Society, 1914) contains a printing error on page 3 where the か (ka) is missing from the 振り仮名 (furigana). Other editions have this printing error corrected and it has been corrected in the quotation below.
