Etymology edit
Modified from nuin in Tolkien’s earlier conception of the language (early ‘Noldorin’), itself modified from yet earlier nûmin in ‘Gnomish’. Diegetically explained as inherited from Primitive Elvish *ṇdūnē, and so cognate to Quenya andúnë.
