Bonin greenfinch (plural Bonin greenfinches)

  1. Chloris kittlitzi, an endangered species of small passerine bird in the finch family Fringillidae, endemic to the Bonin islands of Japan.
    • 1971, Consulate General of Japan, editor, Japan Report, Japan Information Service, page 8:
      In addition to the short-tailed albatross, Japanese crested ibis, Japanese stork, and Pryer's woodpecker, the ordinance covers the Canadian goose, Bonin buzzard,  [] Bonin greenfinch and Lidkh's jay.
      Violators of the ordinance are liable to a term in prison at hard labor of up to one year or fines of up to 50,000 yen ($160).
