Daniken

Dutch edit
Etymology edit
First attested as daneke and danecke in 1236. Etymology uncertain. A proposed derivation from a compound of Old Dutch Dano (“a personal name”) suffixed with the collectivising suffix -ing- and heem (“home, settlement”) does not match well with the oldest attestations of the toponym.
See also Limburgish Danike.
