From Middle Dutch Vranckrike. Equivalent to Frank +‎ rijk. This etymology is incomplete. You can help Wiktionary by elaborating on the origins of this term.

The hamlet in Friesland is named after the country. It may have been originally the name of a field owned by the Frankena family, with the name Frankrijk being applied as a humorous reference to the property. See also Dutch Low Saxon Fraankriek and West Frisian Frankryk.
