Etymology edit

From ka- +‎ tigbak. Introduced through the Catálogo alfabético de apellidos then as Catigbag. The spelling is a late 19th-century respelling mostly adapted by Filipino revolutionaries, especially those who joined the Katipunan (which made wide use of K in writing).
