Lot of Fortune (plural Lots of Fortune)

  1. (astrology) The primary Arabic lot (or 'part') still in use. It is defined as λH ± (λ − λ) – that is, a longitudinal distance along the horizon from the ascendant, H, that is equal to the longitudinal separation of the Sun and Moon. For some, λH + (λ − λ) is the Lot of Fortune and λH − (λ − λ) the Lot of Spirit; more often, λH + (λ − λ) is the Lot of Fortune during the day and λH − (λ − λ) the Lot of Fortune at night.
