Medevoort
Dutch edit
Etymology edit
First attested as meerenvort in 1430. Compound of Middle Dutch mede (“middle, mid-”) and voorde (“ford, crossing”). As there is no river near the settlement, it is possible that voorde is used here in the rarer sense of "dry road running through a humid area".
