  1. (obsolete) A taxonomic class within the kingdom Plantae – a polyphyletic taxon comprising all monadelphous plants (those having all stamens in each flower fused).

This taxon was erected by Carl Linnaeus as an aid in classification, but was not intended to represent a natural grouping.
