Ons
Galician edit
Etymology edit
The island's name is from Medieval Latin Aunes; it was attested by Pliny as Aunios, from a pre-Roman substrate of Iberia, probably from Proto-Celtic *au- (“away, off”),[1] perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *h₂epó.[2]
