Etymology

Ancient Greek πρόσωπον (prósōpon, face) +‎ Agnosie (agnosia), from Ancient Greek ἀγνωσία (agnōsía). Apparently coined by neurologist Joachim Bodamer in 1947 in a paper describing the condition, titled Die Prosop-Agnosie.
