Proto-Finnic edit

Etymology edit

Probably borrowed from Proto-Germanic *spaikǭ, whence Gutnish spaik (a mark carved in a tree). LÄGLOS, however, considers this uncertain due to the semantic gap.[1]

Noun edit

*paikka

  1. place, location
  2. patch (for garment)
