Proto-FinnicEdit

EtymologyEdit

Probably borrowed from Proto-Germanic *wunskijaną. From the same source as Proto-Samic *oskōtēk. Alternatively related to Udmurt оскыны (oskyny), Komi-Zyrian эскыны (eskyny), Khanty ӧгәл- (ögəl-), all from Proto-Finno-Ugric *iske, but the initial vowel is problematic.

VerbEdit

*uskodak

  1. to believe
  2. to have faith
