This may actually be the same root as *h₂eh₁- (see *h₂ed-, *h₂eHs-), considering there is uncertainty concerning the vocalic outcomes of a conflict in coloring rules from two different laryngeals.^[1] Moreover, the reconstruction of *h₂eh₃mós is highly controversial, as is its affiliation with words meaning “hot, heat, burn”, and several of its listed descendants are not universally agreed to reflect the same root.
