Etymology

Various dialectal forms have an initial palatal glide /mj-/, /nj-/, etc., implying a diphthongal or palatal origin of the initial mora. This issue has not been brought up in previous scholarship, however. (Can this⁽⁺⁾ etymology be sourced?)
