editEtymology
editFor a more widespread definition for hand and arm, see *ɔ́-ɓɔ́. While in Yoruba the term has come to mean arm or wing, it likely originally as a term for wing or shoulder. See proposed Proto-Igboid *έ-ká, Nupe ekpá. Yoruboid descendant term èjìká or ójíká may also come from the same root.
