*ṓja edit

@Bezimenen: But the wordform *ṓja already has a mobile accent. Gnosandes (talk) 12:47, 31 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Gnosandes: As far as I know, the adopted notation in Wiktionary is to give columnar accent for Balto-Slavic fixed accent and oxytone for mobile. Thus, I presumed *ṓja would be the predecessor of ap B that Snoj reconstructs. We should refer to Rua for details. I'm not an expert in this regard.
PS Feel free to make corrections if you find mistakes. I was focusing on the details that ZomBear has omitted (declensions, meanings, redundancies). Didn't look thoroughly over the accentology. Безименен (talk) 13:38, 31 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Now that I look more thoroughly on the accent, it seems that there was a series of diachronic layers of application and restoration of Hirt's (Illich-Svitych's) law with Proto-Slavic *aje. This probably explains the two different reconstructions given in the literature. If you feel like it, we may express this verbally in the etymology section (although it should be self-evident). It is unfortunate that the Baltic languages don't preserve reflexes of Proto-Balto-Slavic *ṓja because, as it stands now, it is much a matter of guessing what exactly the proto-Balto-Slavic form was like. @Bezimenen: Mobile accent has some oxytone forms, but they are not necessarily the lemma form. In the case of mobile o-stem neuters, the lemma form has stem accent. See Category:Proto-Balto-Slavic nominals with mobile accent. —Rua (mew) 14:01, 31 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Bezimenen: Hmm, but there is no Hirt's law here. Still, I think that Snoj quite often reconstructs fictitious forms. They resemble reconstructions of the 19th century. Apparently, he extrapolated this accent from the derivative. In fact, such an action is nonsense. In general, @Rua: is right. However, I have corrected examples such as *medú > *médu. Apparently, someone decided to mix athematic and thematic stems. In fact, it should be like this: *médu (mobile accent) ~ *ledús (mobile accent), *péku (fixed accent) ~ *wíršus (fixed accent). Although when I reconstructed this form, I was in no hurry to create a Balto-Slavic entry, because, as you correctly pointed out, there are no other branches, unfortunately. @ZomBear: is in a hurry somewhere. Okay. Gnosandes (talk) 17:44, 31 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
