As far as I can tell, the only real reason it has been reconstructed as such was due to EDA, which is being phased out. I'm also assuming the *-k is a Chuvash innovation considering it can be seen in other words as well. Yorınçga573 (talk) 15:48, 2 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Maybe *āy(ïk) can also be an alternative form due to Volga Bulgar and Chuvash. BurakD53 (talk) 17:11, 2 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
I agree, none of descendants reflect ń, even in Old Turkic and Khalaj. The alternative reconstruction could be *āy(k), or *āy(ïk) as Burak said. Ardahan Karabağ (talk) 18:14, 2 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
