@PhanAnh123 “Derive” in linguistics is rarely used in the active voice in the past tense when said of a word (i.e. "the word derived from"). It is used usually in the passive voice, in either the present or the past tense ("the word is/was derived from"), or in the active voice, in the present tense ("the word derives from"). Please compare the ghits for:
- "the word derived from" (NB: many hits in the link are in fact in the passive voice, since they are in noun clauses);
- "the word is derived from";
- "the word was derived from"; and
- "the word derives from".
