@Vahagn Petrosyan See the entry for Arabic شَبُّوط (šabbūṭ), an Aramaic borrowing, explained from an Aramaic word. These fishes do not look too dissimilar, but I have rarely read into ichthyology, or would I know how fish terms spread. Fay Freak (talk) 11:24, 8 September 2019 (UTC)

@Fay Freak, now that you pointed me to the Arabic, I searched its transliteration and found the origin already explained in Armenian sources. I wonder where -r- comes from. --Vahag (talk) 17:36, 8 September 2019 (UTC)
