彙 or 匯 edit

@Justinrleung Hey, I'm really confused whether which character should be used in each entry. What do you think? --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 03:43, 22 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

I think both are okay. 彙編 is perhaps more common online. Wyang (talk) 04:44, 22 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Mar vin kaiser, Wyang: For this particular entry, both should be ok, but 彙 and 匯 are not entirely the same. (In fact, in Cantonese, 彙's prescribed reading is wai6 instead of wui6.) You'll probably have to think of this case by case. 匯 is used when meaning “to converge (of rivers); to compile; to gather; to assemble; to exchange”, while 彙 generally means “class; collection; to compile; to gather”. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 09:34, 22 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
I misread Mar vin kaiser's message.. I meant both are okay for this word. Wyang (talk) 09:36, 22 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Wyang Ah, I see. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 10:08, 22 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
