The default pronunciation would be 2'me jin - 美 behaves as tone 2 in tone sandhi most of the time.

Semi-spontaneously using tone 1 sandhi (for normal is somewhat permissible on a good bunch of "literary" words (and also on a certain more defined selection of colloquial words) that would be expected to have tone 2/3 sandhi patterns, but words starting with 美 doesn't do that as often ime Musetta6729 (talk) 13:59, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
