- As I understand it, no. 懂 is to comprehend something that you take in through the senses, but 认识 is to identify something or someone as being a thing or person you already know about. Please remember, however, that I am a beginner in Mandarin, and asking User:Jamesjiao, User:Tooironic, User:A-cai, or User:Atitarev would be better.
