@Wyang, Tooironic, could one of you check what 现代规范汉语词典 says about the pronunciation? 现代汉语词典 has huángdēngdēng, but 普通话异读词审音表 only has chéng and dèng for 澄 (黃澄澄 is not mentioned). — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 15:40, 23 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Justinrleung The 现代规范汉语词典 has both deng4 and deng1, but recognises the former as standard; the scanned entry is here. Btw, did you have a good source for the cheng2 pronunciation in this word, Justin? It definitely exists in both Mainland and Taiwan, but I'm just curious if any dictionary from Taiwan includes it, other than 兩岸詞典. Wyang (talk) 00:47, 24 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
The only other dictionary I can find that has it is good-old 教育部重編國語辭典修訂本. Here are some videos: [1] [2] [3] [4]. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 00:57, 24 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! I feel that we should document this somewhere under Wiktionary:About Chinese (maybe Wiktionary:About Chinese/Mandarin), about what the 'standard' means and how to check, sometime... Wyang (talk) 01:23, 24 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, we should probably do that sometime. That said, the standards are ever changing. Both 普通话异读词审音表 and 國語一字多音審訂表 are going through a bit of revision that will hopefully be officialized soon (especially for Taiwan, since the review period has ended a few years ago). — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 01:40, 24 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
