The word itself didn't post correctly. I initially supposed his browser converted the characters to '?' (even in "view source") instead of encoding them in UTF-8 when posting, because I've seen my browser display unknown received characters as the questionmark-in-diamond glyph, not a '?'. But, after installing the CODE2001 font, the characters show up. So, it doesn't indicate this well when using surrogates, I guess. Confusing!
