editJohn Camden Hotten's Slang Dictionary (1873) says: "By a façon de parler, any one with 'a mouse' [meaning a black eye] is supposed to have been to Blackwall." I am unable to cite this from Google Books. Equinox ◑ 14:24, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
