Pear Cultivator? edit

How does one interpret "man of war" as "pear cultivator"?

Can someone please fix and lock this vandalism?119.92.93.84 02:16, 16 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

One doesn't. The phrase is "pear cultivar". A cultivar is a variety developed in cultivation: some other pear cultivars are 'Bartlett', 'Anjou', 'Bosc', 'Seckel', and 'Winter Nelis'. Most cultivars are named after someone- in this case I would guess someone with the surname "Hermann". Ignorance on your part does not constitute vandalism by someone else. Dude, Hermann means "man of war", not pear fruits!110.54.247.38 04:11, 26 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
No, Hermann originated from words meaning that, but that's not what it means now. It's a surname, borne by men, women and children- including baby girls. And it's also apparently the name of a kind of pear. Chuck Entz (talk) 04:25, 26 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
