How, and by whom and what consensus were all these Navajo-language terms for borrowed concepts (which are not simple transliterations) invented? 24.29.228.33 06:05, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
- All of them are either old phrases or translations, not only in Navajo but in most American Indian languages. They have a long tradition of creating terms by the use of calques, even long before English and Spanish appeared on the scene. Exactly when this particular term came to be, and who first began saying it, I don’t know. But it is from níłchʼi (“air, breeze”) plus tsoh (“big”). —Stephen 10:54, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
