Talk:Telugu

The accent in the recording of this pronunciation is on the second syllable (tel-OO-goo). I have two dictionaries (Merriam-Webster and Webster's) that both show the accent on the first syllable (TEL-oo-goo), which is consistent with pronunciation of other Sanskrit words. Should change this recording.

Which recording are you talking about, the Dutch? Is Merriam-Webster doing Dutch now? —Stephen 12:34, 2 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Possible (obsolete?) alternative forms? edit

Hobson-Jobson (1903) says:

TELUGU is the name given to the language of the people themselves (other forms being, according to Bp. Caldwell, Telunga, Telinga, Tailinga, Tenugu, and Tenungu), as the language of Telingāna. It is this language (as appears in the passage from Fryer) that used to be, perhaps sometimes is, called Gentoo at Madras.

Pronunciation edit

I want to add the native pronunciation of the word "Telugu", can someone please guide me as to how/where to add that? In what section? Thanks Bostonite01310 (talk) 06:34, 12 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Return to "Telugu" page.
