Possible missing sense: a "diamond in the rough" (person)

edit

John Camden Hotten's Slang Dictionary (1873) defines "black diamonds" as "talented persons of dingy or unpolished exterior" (i.e. the same as a diamond in the rough); I'm having trouble finding good citations though. Equinox 14:14, 27 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
