The Plant List says Maba elliptica J.R.Forst. & G.Forst. is a synonym of Diospyros foliosa (Rich ex A.Gray) Bakh.. This doesn't seem to be the same as Diospyros elliptifolia Merr., which The Plant List accepts as a valid name. I think it's safe to say even without knowledge of the local flora that it's a species of Diospyros, but without local knowledge you can't make even an educated guess as to which species.
