"dense" ? In what sense ? Of physical density ? ('reminds me of "earth : mostly harmless" (HG2TG)) --Jerome Potts 04:58, 1 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

From the associated quotation, i get it that we're talking about a person, right ? In which case an additional French translation is lourd ("heavy", also the equivalent of "thick") --Jerome Potts 05:02, 1 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Etymology edit

I've heard it said that the origin of this word is the name Crassus, because of Marcus Licinius Crassus's humiliating defeat at the Battle of Carrhae, but I've been unable to find a source for this. Does anybody know whether this is true/have a source?

It's from the normal word (not a name) crassus, as we state. The word doesn't mean "humiliating" so the battle doesn't seem relevant. Equinox 20:48, 5 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
