Sense 2 -- "A perfunctory display of grief." Presumably this means a display of grief in which no tear is shed. But is it accurate and, even if it is, is it sufficiently distinct from sense 1? As I understand the phrase, as a native speaker, this "sense 2" is misguided. If anywhere, it should appear under the plural; see below. Equinox 01:09, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
