Talk:crowned crane

Hi. Is there any reference saying why the definition mention only two of the three crowned crane species? Or is it original work? 144.85.188.135 05:41, 19 March 2014 (UTC).Reply

No need for a reference: the red-crowned crane isn't a crowned crane that's red, but a crane with a red crown. If "crowned crane" meant any crane that has a crown, it would be deletable as having no meaning beyond the sum of its parts (see WT:CFI). It's the same reason why a crow isn't a blackbird even though it's a black bird. Chuck Entz (talk) 17:31, 22 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
