Should ‘Invar’ be capitalized? Both the Oxford English Dictionary and Merriam–Webster capitalize it and call it a ‘trademark’. GeordieMcBain (talk) 00:45, 30 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

I see usage in Google Books for both uppercase and lowercase (see this, for instance. We're a descriptive dictionary, so we can only document how the term is used in the real word, not how some reference has stated it should be used our Criteria for inclusion, which dictate what we allow as entries at Wiktionary. As for trademarks: we can't begin to keep track of the current trademark status of potentially thousands of terms, so we only mention trademarks in the Etymology section, if we know it, and if it's relevant to the origin of the term.
