layman of xxxxx ? edit
In a historic document, if someone is described as a "layman of xxxxx", is xxxxx their:
- Current abode / parish
- Place of Birth
- Place of Baptism — This comment was unsigned.
- There is no way of telling for certain. It is most probably the place, before the current place, in which they lived. It may be a parish, village, town or whatever.
- However, if xxxxx is part of the current place (depends on the type of document), then it is where they currently live(d). SemperBlotto 08:24, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Inconsistency between definition and linked term edit
1. layperson, someone who is not an ordained cleric or member of the clergy
This links to layperson, but the definition of layperson says nothing about clergy. I'm new to Wiktionary, so I don't know the best way to resolve the discrepancy. The Original Wildbear 07:24, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
