panoráma etymology

edit

I am not sure if using the greek based panoráma is coreect in hungarian, since it does not have the prefix pan.

Seems to have been copied from the English panorama, which I suspect is also wrong - I'd have said the whole word is from Ancient Greek, not just the -orama bit. Mglovesfun (talk) 21:50, 20 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Based on my etymology dictionary, panorama is an international word. It arrived to the European languages based on the English version. Hungarian possibly took it from German. It was created in English by putting two Greek words together: πᾶν (pân), neuter form of πᾶς (pâs, all, every) + ὅραμα (hórama, view). --Panda10 23:34, 20 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
