- As somebody who has (in past) spelt the word as "publically", I can affirm that it is pronounced in exactly the same way as the alternative. 121.45.50.178 08:45, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- Ultimately, this spelling has arisen as a result of people not being clear as to the fact that 'publicly' was the correct spelling, the word being made up of the word public and the ending -ly. It was an exception to the rule that you add -ally (rather than -ly) when making adjectives that end in -ic into adverbs. At some point in the last couple of decades, Merriam-Webster recognised the misspelling as being acceptable. The commonly recognised spelling in all English speaking nation-states it that of 'publicly'. Hence, there is absolutely no difference in the pronunciation as it represents the self-same word. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 23:49, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
