Labour productivity: true etymology? edit

Regarding the verb sense, "to restrict labour productivity", our entry says "originally from the way that conscripts may approach following orders". However, according to Christensen's Knowledge Management: Perspectives and Pitfalls, "the term "soldiering" originated from the transportation of soldiers by sea - soldiers were considered privileged passengers as they, unlike the seamen, had no duties". Which is the correct origin? Equinox 11:58, 3 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
