There is no example for "vermin" used as a grammatical singular. Is it even possible to use "vermin" as a singular? Can one say a vermin or this vermin? I think this usage is limited to "vermin" as a pejorative colloquial word for people: He's a real vermin. But one wouldn't say, in standard English, the mouse is a vermin. Would one?
