This template expects Wikisaurus entries to contain subpages named "/def", containing a definition.

The template is mostly unused. Plain markup like "See also [[Wikisaurus:cat]]" is mostly used instead. See also WT:WS#Mainspace.

The appearance of the template with the markup {{ws_refer|rich|wealthy}}:

• Wikisaurus has an entry for “rich” in the sense of “wealthy”.

When used as {{ws_refer|rich|wealthy}}, the template links to the entry "Wikisaurus:rich_(wealthy)", a format of headwords that is currently unused.

Definition subpages

Examples of definitions in the "/def" subpages:

• Wikisaurus:tiny/def - small in size
• Wikisaurus:ephemeral/def - short-lived
• Wikisaurus:speedy/def - done with speed
• Wikisaurus:quickly/def - done with speed
• Wikisaurus:scrawny/def - physically underweight
• Wikisaurus:obese/def - physically overweight
• Wikisaurus:impoverished/def - financially poor
• Wikisaurus:gigantic/def - large in size
• Wikisaurus:wealthy/def - financially rich
• Wikisaurus:enrage/def - make angry

I discourage the use of this template. The template {{ws refer}} is currently used in less than 100 entries, while "See also [[Wikisaurus: ..." is used in over 1800 entries. --Dan Polansky 10:25, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

This Wikisaurus template makes use of a needlessly complicated technique of "/def" subpages, so I ask for its deletion.

Via this request, I also ask that the "/def" subpages get deleted. The subpages are the following: Wikisaurus:tiny/def, Wikisaurus:ephemeral/def, Wikisaurus:speedy/def, Wikisaurus:quickly/def, Wikisaurus:scrawny/def, Wikisaurus:obese/def, Wikisaurus:impoverished/def, Wikisaurus:gigantic/def, Wikisaurus:wealthy/def, Wikisaurus:enrage/def, Wikisaurus:fatigued/def. The def pages are used only by this template.

The talk page of the template (Template talk:ws refer) lists all the slash-def subpages and the source code of the template, so anyone can restore the idea if, in future, the editors of Wikisaurus arrive at the conclusion that the complexity introduced by the template is worth it.

Here is how the template's use looks like:

I agree, it's redundant to just writing it out, since doing so isn't very difficult. I've always just typed it out and this template certainly isn't simpler than typing it out; in fact it looks a lot more complicated, including linking to pages that only exist to stop this template malfunctioning.
