  • (Friesland) First attested as Wijnser Tichel Werk in 1718. Calque of West Frisian Tichelwurk, derived from tichelwurk (brickworks).
  • (Overijssel) Derived from the archaic term tichelwerk (brickworks). The area which the current neighbourhood stands on was formerly occupied by brick factories.
