Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk (discussion) and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the beer parlour or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! — Vildricianus 15:20, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

please wait edit

Please do not do transwikis manually. The new process (still having the kinks worked out in WT:GP) is to bring the full edit history over. This unfortunately, is a sysop-only feature, at this time. --Connel MacKenzie 23:05, 6 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hmmm. I understand the desire to port over the history, but limiting it to Wiktionary admins only may make the 'mass migration' of such pages from Wikipedia unworkable. I was trying to set up one as a 'proof of concept' to show that all the same utility of information can be retained with cross-links between Wiktionary and Wikipedia. --CBDunkerson 23:15, 6 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
We used to do it similar to that. Now, once a month, the sysop that picks the short straw gets to move them all over. I expect, as we get more sysops, the process will smooth itself out, eventually into a once-a-day sort of thing. Or perhaps automated, straight into the Transwiki: namespace where it is all supposed to go. The details have yet to be worked out. --Connel MacKenzie 23:28, 6 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
