I started editing Wiktionary in November 2006 by finding Finnish translations for most of the English nautical terms in Wiktionary (some just don't exist). The job was so interesting that I got hooked, and in addition to that I have emptied the Finnish "translations to be checked" -box several times and added vocabulary from a number of fields which I have found interesting. The apparent lack of logic in selection of the entries is largely due to the fact that they have been triggered by the translation checks followed by a chase after the red links. This actually makes editing Wiktionary interesting to me - every translation is an opportunity to learn something through the background work.
